The weather and ground are ideal at the moment for planting a row of early spuds. The only damage that might occur is that if the tops come through early they could be damaged by frost. This is a risk, but they won't be through until end of March and frosts then on our sheltered site are unlikely. If a frost is forecast then you could just cover any exposed shoots with fleece. The benefits are that you might just have new potatoes at the end of May. I planted a row today and also a row about two weeks ago.
